If I bring this to the Genius Bar, which is the more likely outcome: they will fix it, or exchange it? I'd like to know so I can start copying my files off of the computer.

i'm in search of three ipod shuffles and i need them as cheap as possible. iirc, the apple store for education is selling refurbs (which are okay, as long as they're apple recertifieds) for 79 each. if anyone can find something for 69 (or less!) please let me know. i need them as giveaways for a program at my school.
thanks...i appreciate it.

Yes, everybody would like to know more, but what's another month? Besides, here's the thing:
1. FCP X is a complete rewrite. As such, we'll be dealing with what's essentially a 1.0 product. The professional post production community isn't going to jump to ship until FCP X reaches a reasonable level of maturity (and stability) they're already getting with FCP 7. And that will take a while to happen.
2. I think Apple knows this (above) and it's likely the reason they were pretty selective about what they revealed at NAB. I think they expect that FCP X will sell to enthusiasts first and will eventually make its way into professional workflows as the platform gains more acceptance and support from the third-parties. Workflow and stability are everything in a pro environment; this will always trump features. In the end, Apple's approach was better than over-promising on what they may not be able to deliver yet.
I've already decided that unless by some miracle FCP X can really replace my FCP 7 workflow straight out of the box in June (highly unlikely), I'm not buying it until it truly can, even if it's only $300. I'm sure the post houses feel the same way...

I know what I'm suggesting is a little trivial, but I think it's unnecessary. I think a solution to this could be: instead of adding repeated question marks, add the "?" icon in front of a post. This could be a more elegant, less annoying and more effective solution to getting your question answered.
Thank you for your tolerance,

You might even be able to swap the hard drive right into the new Mac and it should boot just fine depending on the age of the Intel if it can run the same software version. This is handy if you don't want to reinstall everything and keep your old settings and files.
Wont the OS 'be PPC', preventing it from booting on intel hardware, and also devoid of drivers? I know the apps included on OS X are UBs, but isn't the 'core' either PPC or x86?

Have you tested with 4.3 to see if it works with the update? I'd be interested, since I might actually buy the connector if it does.
That is a very good idea. I will try to remember to test that.

Hello guys, new poster here. I have nowhere else to go except for the Apple store which I do not want to do just yet.
Last night, I was getting out of my car and I had my iPhone on my lap. Naturally I forgot that it was there and it fell on the floor. I inspected it for damage and didn't see a scratch or anything. I get inside and further inspect the phone and I noticed that it shut off. I tried to turn it on like normal, and then once that did not work, I tried to reboot it (home and power held down together) and that did not work. I also noticed that it fell where the Vibrate On/Off switch was, because of a scratch I could not see outside.
Anyway, I tried charging it via USB and then rebooting it. All that would happen is the Apple screen came up for about 10 seconds tops and it would shut off by itself. I tried charging it via the wall charger and I got a bit farther:
the Apple screen would show up, and go through the normal motions. It told me I needed to plug it into iTunes (which I can't) so I knew I had to have screwed something up. All I am able to do is make an emergency call. The phone says I have No Service, it is the wrong time, it also has an alarm icon near the battery, and the battery itself is saying it is charging from 0%-1%. Once I take it off of the charger it dies right away. I did some research this morning before posting and I found that it could be that the battery had come loose in its fall, or screw came loose, whichever.
Have any of you experienced this before? Have a solution? Anything?
Thanks in advance.

Yes of course - but so what? We aren't islamophobic, are we?
No, not a bit of it.
We'll just give them the tools with which to defeat us.

Algoriddim has reduced the price of its djay app for the iPhone and iPod touch from $4.99 down to $.99 for a limited time. djay (http://appshopper.com/music/djay-for-iphone-ipod-touch) for the iPhone and iPod touch debuted (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/15/algoriddims-djay-arrives-on-iphone-and-ipod-touch/) in the App Store last month and was preceded by a version for the iPad (http://appshopper.com/music/djay) released in December (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/12/02/djay-application-for-ipad-released/).
djay provides a virtual turntable interface for music mixing and scratching as well as beat-matching, EQ controls and more. The app takes advantage of several features that debuted with iOS 4.2 in November (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/22/ios-4-2-1-now-available/) including full access to the iPod library and AirPlay.

How dependable will your Mac be in 10 years? I'd say it's pretty much irrelevant. Do you really think you'll be using the same computer in 10 years?
I converted to a Mac for the first time last year at this time. I researched a bunch of stuff online and watched a number of videos to see the differences between Mac's and PC's. Once I got the Mac, I got the hang of it pretty quickly.
In terms of security, I don't use any security software and I haven't noticed any problems.
For file organization, I'd say it's very easy to keep files organized.

What a sweet deal! I would love to buy a second one as a backup simply because it's such a great price, but I don't want to be greedy. I don't imagine these will last too long.
