I had written 2 long posts in the past detailing my own views on how to hire an attorney and how to deal with them when you hire them. You may want to go through them in the threads. If someone can dig them we can try to create a thread dedicated on 'advice when you hire an attorney'. I have myself seen enough bad attorneys (both big and small firrms) and the posts were written based on my experiences and experiences of my friends.

I have a question regarding the status check of the 485 process. Does USCIS change the Updated date (maybe a soft LUD) before approval/completion of processing of 485 on the Case Status.
I know its a yes/no/maybe not always kinda answer but I wanted to check with those who already had approved 485s if they had noticed updates before the Approval. If yes, what is the usual timeframe after the update when the approval has been noticed.
I am sure, like me :) you must have kept checking the Case Status page like crazy once the dates were current so, please respond and I am sure many will benefit from your responses.
I am sure, many of you who are still waiting like me,already have friends who went thru this process, so, even your inputs are welcome.

I'm in the process of convincing my FinAid rep that I am eligible with only EAD/I-485 pending/A# (no I-94 w/parolee stamp). It worked for a secondary verification for my mortgage guaranteed by USDA (Agriculture Dept.). They use the same USCIS SAVE system for verification. The truth is no one knows how to do this. My FinAid rep admitted to never having to do this. What happens when they institute a secondary check thru SAVE is it only says EAD valid, so all it does is verify your status, but does not actually notify the agency that you are eligible for any benefits - it says so in the system rules/regs. But USDA thought that was the green light to approve me for benefits, so now I'm eligible for no down payment/low-interest mortgage. I'm trying to pull the same stunt with college. They said they will consult Dept. of Ed, so that may not work. But you need to sound convincing and not fall for their ignorant BS, until they have it clearly figured out and ask you for an I-94 w/parolee stamp valid for more that a year. Truth is, none of us will ever get a stamp valid for more that a year, since AP is given in 1 year increments. But FinAid reps almost always fall for near-1-year validity of the stamp and cave to your pressure. So keep working at it until you get what you want. That'/s what I intend to do. Once you are approved w/documentation for first year, you never have to go thru the exercise again with that school, since the school ultimately decides whether you are qualified. My understanding is since nowadays to get an appointment we are required to fill online form (I guess it's called DS-160) which takes a lot of information about the applicant, the likelihood of PIMS delay etc. will be very less.

My PERM LC got approved recently(two weeks back). In my case its MS+0 years. My attorney says this will qualify for EB2. MY job title is Computer Software Engineer.

I was wondering if the ASC asks to reschedule instead of doing a walk-in again , as my search tells me that Boston ASC most likely will ask to reschedule. Can we just go to another nearest ASC (Rhode Island) or Manchester, NH which allows walk-in after the finger heals instead of waiting for the rescheduled appointment notice to be received from the original ASC. My wife has made plans to go visit her parents in next 2 weeks and we did not anticipate that such a thing would happen.

Now I have seen many people filed on June 2007 get GC approvals. Now onwards their number is keep on increasing. Please put your details on this thread to see the trend. I think all Jun 2007 filers will get GC for the 2008 quota. Provided their I-140 is approved and NC is cleared.

But the fact is I have Maths and I did 4 Math courses in graduation and provisional clearly shows maths1, Maths2, maths3, maths4.
Letter says Vallabhu has done Courses in Sanskrit,English, Physics and Geology but nothing in Maths.
and This how each year of transcripts look like
